The Song

The Song is hard to define. The Song has always been part of Lavinia’s life. As a young girl she was privileged to be part of a church which loved to sing. She learnt a lot about worship through looking at the faces of the people around her. It was not unusual to see people shed tears as they worshipped, equally she watched expressions of joy as faces shone with the glory of God. She learned that worship had nothing to do with external circumstances, but a heart touched by God’s amazing grace.

There are many ways to worship God, but for Lavinia singing has been something that God has used throughout her life. In the early years both her and her husband were part of a group called the Persuaders. Then they sang with their sons as a family group named Peaceline. In later years they sang together and up until recently Lavinia sang with worship groups in her own church.

She has recently started to sing again with Maisie Hill, her long time friend and one of the members of the Persuaders group that sang 35 years ago.

The Song says many things. It is worship and adoration of our Saviour. It joins with a heavenly host declaring the majesty of God. It lifts a tired and weary spirit and reminds those who are homesick for heaven of that great day when we shall all sing a new song.

The song has to be sung. It cannot remain within.
